Biomimetics (also known as biomimicry and bionics) is the transfer of technology from nature to engineering. Our lab focuses on materials, with two missions:

   1. Characterize the structure and mechanics of natural materials
   2. Duplicate these structures and mechanisms into new, high-performance engineering materials
